Store Settings, Shipping Rules and Broken Pages Fixed for a US Body Care Brand

The Verdant Glow storefront, with the hero line Rooted in Nature. Made to Glow.

The Brief

Verdant Glow is a family-run body care brand from Irondale, Alabama, making sugar scrubs and whipped body butters by hand. The store looked finished from the front, but the setup underneath it was working against the business: it was registered to the wrong country, the shipping rules did not match where orders actually go, and the Shipping, Returns, Refund and About pages returned 404 errors. We reviewed the configuration before touching anything, then fixed it in the order that would not break checkout.

Set up for the wrong country.

The business is in the US, but the store was configured as if it were based in the Bahamas. That one setting reaches further than it looks: it shapes which payment options are available, what the bank account has to be, and how shipping is calculated from the start. Shopify's country and payments settings come with their own requirements, so we reviewed them first and then brought the business settings into line with the real US setup.

Shipping rules that match the real routes.

We rebuilt shipping around where the orders go. US and Bahamas zones, local delivery in Nassau priced by delivery area, local delivery in Birmingham at $5, Alabama parcels under 5 lb at $10 on USPS Ground Advantage, and free shipping on orders over $100. Then we checked the rates actually appear at checkout for US customers, because a rate that exists in the admin but never shows to a buyer is the same as no rate at all.

The pages a buyer checks before they pay.

Shipping, Returns, Refund and About Us were returning 404 errors. For a small brand those are the pages that earn trust: a first-time buyer reads them before handing over a card. They now load properly and carry the brand's real processing times and policies.

Connected, not just published.

A page that exists but is not linked is still invisible. Every policy and About page is now wired into the header and footer navigation, and every link on the storefront resolves.

Engagement Detail

Fixing the setup a storefront hides

Most Shopify problems a small brand runs into are not design problems. The storefront can look ready while the settings behind it quietly turn buyers away. Verdant Glow was a short, focused engagement to find and fix exactly that kind of problem.

Review before change

Country, payments and shipping are linked in Shopify. Changing the store's country changes what is required of the payment and bank setup, and the shipping origin that every rate is built on. So the first step was a review of the current settings against the real business, not a round of edits. The order of the fixes came from that review.

What was delivered

  • Business and country settings corrected to reflect the US business.
  • Shopify Payments and bank account requirements reviewed and set up for that country.
  • Shipping zones for the US and the Bahamas, with local delivery in Nassau by area and in Birmingham at $5.
  • Alabama parcels under 5 lb at $10 on USPS Ground Advantage, and free shipping on orders over $100.
  • Shipping, Returns, Refund and About Us pages fixed so they display instead of returning a 404.
  • Navigation connected so every one of those pages is reachable from the header and footer.
  • A final check that the rates actually appear to US customers at checkout.

Why a small job still matters

A buyer who reaches checkout and sees no shipping option, or clicks Returns and lands on an error page, does not report the problem. They leave. None of this work is visible when it is right, which is exactly why it gets skipped, and why it is worth doing properly once.
