What is GEO and how is it different from SEO?
GEO is Generative Engine Optimization: getting your brand cited inside AI answers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Bing Copilot). SEO targets blue-link search results. They overlap (structured content helps both) but require different tactics. We do both as part of one engagement.
How does AI decide which brands to cite?
AI systems pull from sources they consider authoritative: well-structured Wikipedia entries, high-domain-authority articles, schema-rich product pages, and consistent brand mentions across the web. We work on all four. The biggest single lever is content that directly and specifically answers questions buyers ask.
Will I get a ranking report like traditional SEO?
Yes, but two-track. Traditional rankings from Search Console + Ahrefs/SEMrush. AI visibility from monthly tests of 15+ relevant prompts across 4 major AI tools, with screenshots showing where you appear (or do not).
How long until I see AI search visibility improve?
60 to 90 days for the first improvements to show up in AI tool outputs. AI systems re-crawl their training and retrieval indexes on different cadences; some changes propagate in days, others take weeks. We monitor monthly and report what is moving.
Is hreflang necessary for our store?
Only if you serve multiple markets with localized content. Most Shopify stores selling in one country (e.g., US-only) do not need hreflang. Multi-region stores (US + UK + AU) benefit significantly. We will flag whether it is relevant on the audit.
Can you do this alongside our existing SEO agency?
